THC, THCA & Delta-8 Vapes: Two Deadlines, One Exit
Hemp vape sellers are getting squeezed from two directions at once: Shopify's ENDS ban on July 7, 2026, and the federal 0.4mg THC-per-container cap on November 12, 2026. Your platform move has to survive both.
until the Shopify deadline · July 7, 2026 · 00:00 UTC
Why hemp-derived doesn't exempt you
The 2018 Farm Bill argument is irrelevant here. Shopify's notice bans vaporizers, parts and refills as a hardware class. A Delta-8 cart is a vaporizer refill; a THCA disposable is a vaporizer. Legality of the extract inside was never the test.
Affected products
- Delta-8, Delta-9 (hemp-derived), Delta-10, THCP and HHC carts
- THCA disposables and all-in-one devices
- Live-resin and liquid-diamond vape lines
- Vape bundles inside otherwise-compliant hemp catalogs
The second countdown: November 12, 2026
Separately from Shopify, federal hemp rules cap total THC at 0.4mg per container effective November 12, 2026. Most current Delta-8/THCA SKUs exceed that by orders of magnitude. Practical implication: your migration should land on infrastructure that can handle catalog restructuring, state-level gating and rapid SKU swaps — WooCommerce does; a hosted platform's ToS might not even allow the products.

Payments for cannabinoid vapes
This is the hardest underwriting profile in e-commerce. We place THC vape merchants with processors that explicitly accept hemp-derived inhalables, and always configure a backup gateway — details here.
SEO note for hemp brands
Hemp vape stores typically earn most non-branded traffic on collection pages (“delta 8 carts”, “thca disposables”). Our redirect map treats those as tier-one assets: mirrored URL slugs where possible, 301s everywhere else, structured data preserved. Rankings survive the move.

Quick answers
My products are 2018 Farm Bill compliant hemp. Still banned?
Still banned. Shopify's rule is about the vaporizer hardware class, not the legality of the extract inside it.
Should I wait until after the Nov 12 THC cap to migrate?
No — you'd be paying for chaos twice. Migrate now with Nov-12 compliance fields built in, then the November change is a catalog update, not a second migration.
Can WooCommerce handle state-by-state hemp restrictions?
Yes — per-product, per-state shipping exclusions are standard on our builds, updated as state rules move.
Do gummies and tinctures on my THC store survive July 7?
Under this Shopify notice, ingestibles aren't ENDS — but your vape SKUs are usually the traffic engine, and the Nov 12 THC cap hits the ingestibles next. Moving the whole catalog once beats amputating it twice.
Which states can my new Woo store ship THCA to?
The map changes monthly — that's the point of per-state shipping rules. We configure your current legal map on day one and you toggle states as laws move, no developer needed.
Will my Delta-8 keywords transfer or do rankings reset?
They transfer. Collection pages like 'delta 8 carts' are tier-one assets in our redirect map: mirrored slugs where possible, 301s everywhere else, schema preserved.
