When exactly does the Shopify vape ban take effect?

Merchant notices reviewed by compliance firms instruct sellers to remove all ENDS products by July 7, 2026 UTC or submit a successful appeal. Reuters first reported the platform-wide ban on June 23, 2026. Stores that keep affected listings past the deadline risk product delisting and account suspension.

What products count as ENDS under Shopify's policy?

Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems as Shopify defines them: e-cigarettes, e-liquids, vaporizers, parts, and refills — regardless of nicotine content. In practice that sweeps in nicotine vapes, zero-nicotine vapes, THC/THCA/Delta-8 carts, CBD vapes, mushroom vape blends, empty cartridges, pods, 510 batteries, mods, coils and chargers.

My products are FDA-authorized. Am I exempt?

No. Sources familiar with the policy told Reuters the ban applies to all vapes regardless of regulatory status — including the roughly 45 FDA-authorized e-cigarette products. There is no compliant-product carve-out.

Can I just appeal instead of migrating?

The notice offers an appeal path, but the ban is a category-level policy adopted after a year of pressure from 25 state attorneys general and the City of New York. Appeals that argue an individual store is compliant are fighting the wrong battle — the category itself is prohibited. Treat an appeal as a way to buy days, not a survival strategy.

Why WooCommerce and not another hosted platform?

Because the risk is the platform's terms of service, not your compliance. Any hosted SaaS (BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix) can repeat Shopify's decision under the same AG pressure. WooCommerce is open-source software on hosting you control — there is no platform landlord who can delete your catalog.

What actually moves in the 48-hour migration?

Products, variants, images, collections, customers, order history, discount codes, gift cards, reviews, blog content, page content, metafields, and a complete 301 redirect map from every Shopify URL pattern to its WooCommerce equivalent. Theme design is rebuilt to match your current storefront.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if the migration is done correctly. We mirror your URL structure where possible, ship a full 301 matrix for the rest (including Shopify's /collections/ and /products/ paths), preserve titles, meta descriptions and structured data, and resubmit sitemaps to Search Console on cutover day.

What about payments? Shopify Payments won't follow me.

Correct — and card networks are tightening too: Mastercard warned acquiring banks about unauthorized vape transactions in 2026. We connect your Woo store to high-risk processors that explicitly underwrite vape, hemp and cannabinoid merchants, with a backup gateway configured from day one.

How much does the migration cost?

The 15-minute intro call is free. Fixed-scope migration pricing depends on SKU count, order history size and custom app replacements — you get an exact quote on the call (or within hours of sending the form), before any commitment.

Is there a second deadline I should know about for hemp products?

Yes. Separately from Shopify, the federal hemp rule caps total THC at 0.4mg per container from November 12, 2026. If you sell hemp-derived products, your migration plan should account for catalog changes before that date too.
